TRAVEL ITINERARY

A brief itinerary of Bali and Irian Jaya Adventures

Irian Jaya, Baliem Valley, Dani

Irian Jaya is one of the worlds few remaining truly wild frontiers. One of the most picturesque areas in Irian Jaya is the Baliem Valley. Located in the highlands at 5000 ft, this landlocked area is home of the Dani people, an indigenous primitive culture that continues to cling to ancestral beliefs. The culture of the Dani has changed little over time. They continue to live in the stone age, in small villages, wear penis sheaths and pay homage to the ancestral spirits who dictate their way of life.

NOTES:
I do these trips on a personal basis with friends and clients that have done trips with me before. The trips are small , 6 - 8 people, I stick to the itinerary, stay busy but go at a steady, easy pace and stay flexible. I lived in Indonesia for 7 years, and have been to Sumatra on many expeditions. In addition to my years of experience as a guide, I have become familiar with their culture and customs, and I speak the Indonesian language. This is just a general itinerary. Trip itinerary is subject to change, so we will be prepared for "flexibility" for any situation, weather conditions, flight or transportation delays, etc.
