Wooden "Hudoq" Mask - KSS705
From Dayak Kayan Tribe, East Kalimantan, Borneo, Indonesia
The Hudoq Mask is worn by male dancers during planting
and harvest dances. Together with their ancestors, which they are representing,
malicious spirits are kept from taking over the "soul" of the rice, and
destroying the crop.
Made from wood, woven hat and feathers. Hornbill carving on nose piece.
