Irian Jaya (West New Guinea).
Irian Jaya is one of the worlds few remaining truly wild frontiers.
A land where the indigenious people have lived virtually unchanged for
thousands of years.The "Dani" people
live in the Highlands,
The "Asmat" people in the swamplands
and The"Korowai"
or "Tree" people live in the foothills of the brazza river region.
Kalimantan (East Borneo)
Kalimantan means "River of Gems" in the Indonesian language,
Abundant in natural resources with thick rain forests and many large rivers.
Home of The "Dayaks" who once were
known as some of the world's fiercest head-hunters with their famous
traditional swords "Mandau" and blow guns "Sumpit".
Kalimantan is also known for the famous "Orangutan"and other wild life
such as sun bears,macaque and gibbon monkeys plus a variety of exotic birds
and plants.
Floating on a bamboo raft down a river,visit diamond mining camps,
feed the orangutans at a rehabilitation center or travel
through jungles to visit the famous "Dayak"long houses.
Sulawesi
Once known as "Celebes".spectacular limestone mountains,white beach coastline,
and world reknown diving.This is the only place in the world where the "Babi rusa"
lives (a type of wildboar with a second set of upward curving tusks).
Diverse and rich in culture of the "Bugis","Makasar","Minahasa" and "Toraja"
people.
The Toraja people who live in the highlands of "Tanah Toraja"
are famous with their ritual funeral ceremonies.
Sumatra
Once known as "Andalas".It is known as the isle of gold.
The equator cuts this large island in two equal halves.
Rich in natural resources from tin,rubber, cinnamon, coffee to tea.
Sumatra has always been famous for its wild life such as:
orangutans,rhynos,tigers,elephants and beautiful birds.
Magnificient traditional architecture with a rich diversity of cultures.
Taking a rafting journey into the remote jungles of Sumatra or
travelling to the isolated Islands of the Mentawai people
is a breathtaking experience.
Bali
The island of Gods.
Bali is the only remaining stronghold of hinduism in Indonesia .
Everyday you can see colorfull temple ceremonies, traditional dance
performances and listen to gamelan music.
Lush volcanic mountains , white sandy beaches and great surfing.
You will find yourself busy in Bali as it is one of the most famous
international destinations in the world.
Java
A volcanic chain of mountains extends the whole length of the island.
Java has an ancient history and culture.Visit The famous 9th century
Budhist temple "Candi Borobudur" is the world's largest stupa and largest
ancient monument in the southern hemisphere.Java is also known for the finest
"Batik" made in the world.
